When do schools hire?

School year
State schools and state-subsidised (concertada) schools follow the Generalitat's calendar; private language schools (academias) follow their own term dates but normally mirror the school year, running September to June with a break at Christmas and Easter; the state conversation-assistant programme runs 1 November to 31 May.
Hiring
The teaching year turns on September. Catalan schools start on 8 September 2026, so academies and private schools do their main hiring in May to July for a September start and keep filling gaps into late September; the state programme recruits much earlier, with applications in June for a November start.
