Before you apply

• Sponsorship for a specialist in humanities or international services visa.
• A fluent command of English, spoken and written.
• Preferred: a CELTA, TEFL or TESOL certificate.
• For visa sponsorship: a bachelor's degree from a university where English was the medium of instruction, or three years of verifiable full-time ESL teaching experience.
• Preferred: prior ESL or EFL teaching experience.
• Proof of enrolment in national health insurance at contract signing.

• A master's degree or higher in TESOL, applied linguistics, English literature, education, or a related field, or an MBA, from an accredited institution in an English-speaking country or region.
• At least three years teaching English at a university in Japan.
• Renewal is by mutual agreement, and the maximum age is 70.

• A CELTA or Trinity Cert TESOL or equivalent, or a minimum 60-hour online course with three months' teaching experience.
• For part-time posts, TESOL or CELTA and/or at least six months' teaching experience in Japan.
