A peer group can give you a place to discuss a lesson, ask about an application or share a practical idea. Choose a space that fits your subject and the kind of conversation you want.
Places to explore
- r/OnlineESLTeaching is a public forum with discussions about online teaching and platforms. Posts are individual accounts; check current employer terms before relying on job or pay advice.
- IATEFL lists professional events and special interest groups for English language teachers. Check access, membership requirements and any event fee on its own site.
- TESOL International Association provides links to communities of practice, affiliates and professional development. Use its current listings to find a topic or local association that interests you.

Choose a group that fits your needs
Read the rules and a few recent discussions. Look for useful replies, clear moderation and a way to report problems. For ELA or maths, search for an association or peer group focused on your subject and curriculum.
Before paying for a membership or event, check the programme, access, total cost and cancellation terms.
Ask a question people can answer
Give the relevant context and one specific question. For example: “I teach an adult beginner online. They can choose the right verb but struggle to use it in a sentence. What short practice activity would you try?”
Leave out student names, recordings, private messages and other identifying details. When discussing a vacancy, share its public link and distinguish what the employer says from your own experience.
