Eight platforms won’t say what they pay. We listed them anyway.
We tried to add nine more platforms to the board this week. One passed at the time: Qkids, which we now mark as limited. Its teacher pages still state pay, but its hiring board listed no open positions when we rechecked on 18 Sep 2026. The other eight? Magic Ears is a shell post-2021, PalFish redirects to a parent company with no public pay, 51Talk’s pay page is a 2016 artefact of the market it exited, Tutlo hides its base rate behind “level bonuses”, and Voxy, FluentBe and two others simply don’t publish. They’re excluded — with reasons — rather than guessed at. That is the difference between a pay-transparent board and an uncritical list.

Non-native policies, checked against application pages
The question teachers ask us most is who hires non-native speakers. The set-your-rate marketplaces (Preply, italki, AmazingTalker, Verbling) decide on a live interview rather than nationality; Cambly limits applicants to seven countries; SkimaTalk and LingoStar accept native speakers only. Every tag links to the platform’s own wording — see the evidence table. Platforms quietly rewrite these pages, so each tag carries its check date; the last thing a worried teacher needs is a stale “non-native friendly” tag.

IndexNow for changed job pages
After a refresh we can tell Bing, Yandex and Seznam which job pages changed, through the IndexNow protocol, instead of waiting for their crawlers to come round. Google does not take part, so it still finds pages through our sitemaps and its own crawling.

The TeachAway sweep
We processed 322 TeachAway job URLs and extracted 60 listings with advertised salary ranges. The rest were excluded honestly: no pay in the listing text, corporate roles, or dead links. An honest 60 beats a padded 200. The exclusion reasons stay with the dataset, and every listing that made it through carries its advertised range and a freshness stamp.
