Teach children online safely
Before teaching children online, understand the organisation’s safeguarding rules and how to report a concern. Pay and scheduling matter, but they do not replace a clear process for protecting learners.
Read the safeguarding process
Check the required background checks and training, who handles safeguarding concerns, and how to report an incident. Confirm the policy applies to online teaching and the learners you will teach.
Use approved communication
Follow the employer’s rules for lesson links, parent contact, messages and recordings. Keep communication on approved channels. Do not move a learner to a private messaging account or reuse recordings without the appropriate permission.
Prepare your teaching space
- Use the agreed classroom and privacy settings.
- Keep student details and lesson links out of public view.
- Check what a parent or carer needs to do before the lesson.
- Know the process if a learner disconnects or raises a concern.

Read the age group, qualifications, residence and background check requirements in the current listing. Browse online teaching jobs and confirm any unclear conditions with the employer.
