You do not need to pretend you have classroom experience. Start with roles that explicitly accept new teachers, then show how you would explain an idea and help a learner practise.

Find a suitable starting point

Read the current experience requirement, then check qualifications, residence, schedule and equipment. A general tutor sign-up page may stay open even when places in one subject are limited.

Browse current online teaching listings. If an employer does not explain its experience requirement, ask before completing a long unpaid assessment.

Prepare one clear sample lesson

Choose one small learning aim, such as asking for directions or using the past tense.
Explain it briefly and give a clear example.
Let the learner practise, and say what feedback you would give.
Test your microphone, lighting and internet connection before you record.

Check what the first lessons pay

Check whether training, demonstrations and trial lessons are paid. Ask how bookings are assigned and whether hours are guaranteed. Do not build a monthly budget from an advertised maximum or an unbooked tutor profile.
