At a glance

Hours: 40 hours a week; school hours run from 10:00 to 21:00, depending on the day. School hours vary from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. depending on the day of the week. Teachers work a total of 40 hours per week.

Pay and payment terms

How pay is worked out: A monthly salary: a base salary plus a guaranteed fixed overtime allowance. The monthly salary includes a base salary of 255,000 yen plus a guaranteed 20,000 yen fixed overtime allowance.
Bonuses: A monthly bonus for averaging 31 or more lessons a week in the previous month. Teachers can receive a bonus in their monthly salary when teaching an average of 31 or more lessons per week in the previous calendar month.
Employment and pay terms: Japanese health insurance, with contributions to the Japanese pension. Teachers are provided health insurance coverage through the Japan Health Insurance Association and must contribute into the Japan Pension Service.
