Check your online teaching setup
Start with the equipment you already have. Read the employer’s technical requirements, then test sound, picture and connection in the software you will use. Replace something when the test shows a problem or the role requires it.
Four checks before an interview or lesson

Buy only for a clear reason
Write down what failed the test before comparing replacements. Check compatibility, the full price and return terms. A more expensive setup does not establish whether an employer will accept an application.
A phone, virtual background or external camera may be useful in some setups, but check whether the employer permits it. Do not assume that equipment suitable for a casual call meets a teaching platform’s requirements.
Plan for an interruption
Find the employer’s contact and rescheduling procedure before a lesson. If you plan to use a backup connection or device, test it and check any cost. Ask how interrupted or cancelled lessons affect pay.
