Cancellation policies by platform: how to find the real rules

Read the terms that apply to your account before treating a lesson slot as paid work.

Why a ranking is not enough

The useful question is narrower: what happens to this specific booked lesson if the student cancels, does not attend, or disputes the lesson?

Read these five rules before opening a calendar

Event What to locate in the terms Record for yourself
Student cancellation Notice window, refund rule, and teacher payment rule Time zone used by the platform
Student no-show How long to wait and how to report it Screenshot of attendance and message log
Teacher cancellation Penalty, grace period, and appeal process Support channel and evidence needed
Technical failure Who reports it and when Connection test and incident record
Dispute Payment hold and review process Lesson notes and files permitted by policy

Set up a no-show routine

  1. Join the lesson the way the platform requires, a few minutes early.
  2. Send one neutral in-platform message at the scheduled start.
  3. Follow the stated waiting and reporting steps exactly.
  4. Save only records allowed by the platform and privacy rules.
  5. Check the lesson status before releasing the time as unpaid or paid.

SkimaTalk’s teacher FAQ gives more detail than most: it says teachers must initiate a session on time, identifies when a late arrival becomes a teacher no-show, and describes cancellation and no-show ratios it monitors. It also says the teacher can still be paid for a student no-show if the teacher follows the required reporting steps. Treat that as a SkimaTalk rule only, and read the linked current policy before relying on it.
