From the job posting

We are currently looking above all for native-speaker English trainers in Hannover and the surrounding area — for on-site courses at our corporate clients and for online teaching.

Set-up

General setup suggestions

  • A laptop or desktop computer, not a phone or tablet.
  • A steady internet connection; Wi-Fi at a good speed is fine.
  • A webcam and a microphone; the built-in ones are often enough.
  • A quiet room with a plain, professional background.
  • Zoom, Teams or Google Meet, whichever the client uses.

Nice to have

  • An external webcam and a good USB microphone or headset.
  • A wired connection for client sessions.
  • A second screen for the learner’s documents and your notes.

General teaching guidance

General advice, not the employer’s requirements. Check the posting for how this role works.

Ask what the learner needs English for, then make the practice useful: rehearse a presentation, clarify an email, or work through a difficult conversation. Give precise feedback without interrupting every sentence. In groups, leave room for everyone to contribute. Preparation, reporting and class size vary by employer, so agree those expectations before you start.

Questions to ask the employer

  • How are learners matched to coaches, and how many will I start with?
  • What is the cancellation rule for corporate learners, and is a late cancellation paid?
  • Do you provide materials, or do I build sessions round each learner’s work?
  • Which time zones are your clients in?
  • How does the rate rise with experience or feedback?
